Continuing on with the Austin Pond Societies Annual Pond Tour, this was another of the larger ponds on the tour. Last year, on the tour,  it was only 2 weeks old. Now it has grown into a thing of real beauty.

S6     Dan and Paula – Barton Creek

Flagstone and granite borders filled with native plants, cactus and agave welcome you to this impressive site. The area is shaded with large oaks, and bird sculptures perch on boulders. A list of superlatives described the pond last year, but this year it’s even more amazing. As you enter the back garden, there’s a low waterfall and stream to the right. The stream is so natural you would never know that it disguises the bog filter system. The path takes you past another small waterfall that runs over a large driftwood log; then you arrive at a complex waterfall that drops into the pond below. This is a 17,000- gallon liner pond that is crystal clear and surrounded by native plants, salvia and irises setting a spectacular scene. This garden is not to be missed.
