Sitting here at Covert Ford
waiting for my truck
just a routine service call
and with any luck
I will be out of here real soon
on the road to home
back to the happy little dogs
whom I had left alone
they will be pleased to see me back
with waggily tails for greeting
and I will make a fuss of them
and show them how I’m feeling
happy to be back home
to do my normal things
tend to the ponds and feed the fish
and calm all their misgivings
