The sky grows very dark as the storm clouds roll in
it’s going to rain which is very welcome in Texas
as there are long spells without it
and sometimes it rains very hard
and floods the land and the streets
and fills the creeks.
At first the ground is very dry
and the rain soaks in
but as it continues to pour
the ground becomes saturated
no longer absorbing the rain
as it drains.
We can always use the rain
as it rolls over dirt and rocks
and disappears into the ground
into the aquifers of the world
sustaining the life above
supporting all life with love.

I’ve spent time in Texas in the past and am familiar with the welcome rain brings to the land. Now I am living in North-West Georgia where recently we’ve had more than our share of snow….I much prefer the rain…
We had some snow the other day, about 2 inches. It was all gone by the next day. I spent 10 years in NY State and had my share of snow. Hate the stuff…
Very nice poem! 🙂 Water is often purifying! I sure don’t like shoveling a lot of the white fluffy variety!
Me neither which is why I moved South.
I have too many aquariums… so can’t move south easily! 🙂
