First Contact

New to this blogging thing but like everything else in my life, willing to give it a try.

Sitting here in front of my computer on another glorious summer day in Texas, watching the Goldfinches and Cardinals as they fight over the feeders which hang in front of the picture window, I can’t help marveling at the way Mother Nature paints her pictures.

My yard, which is my pride and joy, is a maze of color with a solid backdrop of green with all of the plants that are growing there. The ponds, five in all, are a beautiful addition with the cascading waterfalls and the fountains. Not only are they wonderful to look at, they also sound so soothing. Nothing like the sound of running water as it splashes from the waterfalls sending it’s ripples in ever growing circles.

The Koi and Goldfish swim lazily around until I venture close to the ponds when they all scramble to get closer so as not to miss out on the feed that is tossed in to them. Probably accounts for why the Koi are over two feet in length with all of the feeding throughout the day. The get fed every time I go out which is several times a day.

I tried to add a video of the ponds but have not yet figured out how to make it happen. Will keep working on it.

  1. Your ponds are beautiful. Each time I visit, you have added something new. A blog is a great idea! Keep it up,,,Fran

  2. What a nostalgic memory trip! Life was so much simpler then. Even though you’ve got just a few years on me, I, too, have great memories from my elementary days growing up in Michigan. Nickel Cokes and candy bars, working like a slave for most of a day for 25 cents, being relatively poor but not realizing it. Mostly fun times because we were likely protected from the bad stuff by our parents and our own selective perception of the world.
